A dance drama about a woman's fate

The performance “The Prostitute” – is the first dance production in the strip genre that radically changes the perception of what a dramatic story on stage can be. It is based on the novel of the same name by Panas Myrny. The show reinterprets the classical plot through the language of the body, human plasticity, seductive movements, and internal tension. A socio-psychological drama, which was a mirror of 19th century society, now sounds no less sharp and relevant, finding new stage life.

At the center of the plot is – Khrystya, a young girl who finds herself on the edge of survival. Having lost her parents, she goes to Kyiv in search of protection and hope. When it seems there is no way out, fate leads Khrystya to an elite capital cabaret – – a space of brilliance and darkness at the same time. Here begins the story of fighting for the right to live, for the desire to preserve oneself in a society that obeys ruthless rules and leaves no place for female weakness.

The performance “The Prostitute” was directed by the first strip theater in Ukraine “SHADOW theatre”. This production breaks stereotypes about strip, transforming it from a show into a powerful dramatic tool.
